My Fire

Valentine’s Day 2022 Poem

What burns between us

                          can make the sun flinch

and summer sweat

this heat has a flame for eternity

to keep its hands warm with

and guide us through every night

to mesmerize me with shadows waltzing

along the sheen of your cinnamon skin

and reflect in the onyx pools

                           your soul swims between

kiss my pain;

                          your lips can heal

and let me massage your past

                           to work the traumas out

dance, my fire

                          all through my veins

and take my thoughts

with the motion of your hips

make us meet in dreams

                        and dine on premonitions

we need an island

                          just for us

to lay on the sands as we are

and make sure the sun don't shiver
