"Luck Of The Draw"
I've always been told
to play my cards right.
But I was lost in the shuffle.
Until we found each other,
closed the bridge and chose
to deal with one another.
I know it's a winner
so with no hesitation
I'll put Diamonds on that hand
because I dig her
more than Spades.
She resurrected me
from the soil,
from a muddy past
full of Dirty Hearts.
Even my days were dark
but like Clubs in Vegas she
made the nightlife worth living.
I dove in headfirst,
not to Go Fish,
but because quicker
than a first trimester
I knew she was my baby,
regardless of it being
plenty of fish in the C-section.
I didn't have to Poker
for something beautiful
to be airborne.
We cut ties like cut decks
from any ex who guesses
like tarot readings
that there's a future
in closed books.
I'm not a gambling man
but when it comes
to betting on us
I turn into a Bid Whiz.
We've torn down barriers
with blackjacks of trust
and rebuilt a Palace
amongst the rubble.
I'll battle the world
for this type of love.
If a Queen is the King's prize,
then I Declare War.
And I think I'd win.
Simply because,
luck of the draw doesn't exist.
There's a reason that there are
fifty two weeks, four seasons
in a year
and fifty two cards, four suits
in a deck.
Therefore, true love
is like playing with Bicycle's,
once you learn
you'll be higher than Aviator's.
So we just play our cards right.
Never again being
lost in the shuffle.
We found each other
closed the bridge
and deal with one another
by choice.
