OUR IMPACT

Take a moment to hear from our alumni and volunteers who have witnessed a first hand experience of the work we do.

“E4C for me was super special. The classes were thought provoking, and let me use my mind (muscle).

As a prisoner serving a life sentence, most of the state programs/classes were not available for me and others serving life.”

— Michael Annen

“Through E4C I have had the opportunity to partake in some amazing creative writing and self betterment classes. In Restorative Justice I learned how to take responsibility for my wrong in a healthy and safe way. Writing has given me the outlet needed to express myself and gain the confidence needed to write and present my work. Because of the opportunities through E4C I have become a published writer in the Mend Project, Don't Shake the Spoon, Prisoner Express, Arizona Poetry Foundation, and Goat POL. Creative writing gives incarcerated individuals a way to freely express themselves without judgment.”

— Vicki Hicks (2024)

“I had a visit

Then my shame gone realized is not about me, my past, it about the love E4C volunteer have for all incarcerated men & women. Doesn’t matter color, nationality makes no difference, ethnicity makes no difference, education or economic or inmate number, with E4C volunteer nothing matter.

E4C

Thank you for giving me the opportunity.”

— Marie Petit Louis (2023)

“E4C made me want to be a better writer, its a way to have my prison sentence go by faster while doing something constructive with myself. I've even submitted something that I hope will be published.”

— Robert Glaros (2023)
