Attend an e4c graduation
Join us for students' performances of their pieces!
Exchange for Change graduations are like no other…
At the end of every semester, we invite the public to come into the prisons where we teach. In lieu of a ceremony, students perform works they crafted throughout the semester.
Guests and students alike have a chance to converse and celebrate before and after the students’ presentations.
Graduation is a unique chance for students to meet community members and supporters while showcasing their hard work and creativity from the semester. Our students look forward to it every semester as it is a time to celebrate them, their passions, and their growth. We hope to see you there!

“Graduates, it is my honor and privilege to congratulate all of you for your hard work, your steadfast hope, your perseverance, and most importantly for you faith in the truths that education offers. I imagine that like many of you, I was not “born” a writer. But rather, I became a writer as a way of needing to understanding all the goodness and darkness inside me and inside others. Writing poetry has made me see the world and myself anew. The most beautiful thing about life is this: as long as we have one breath left in us, we have a chance to reconcile, to be happy, to be fulfilled. You have taken a very deep and important breath today, one of many more to come. Congratulations!”
